A Shop is when the mystery shopper goes to a business for an assignment. The mystery shopper is of course to blend in while shopping and observing things like cleanliness, stores over all appearance, display. Other things a shopper will be looking for are ease of finding items, staff appearance, and all aspects of staff customer service.
Some common things a shopper will look for include but are not limitd to overall friendliness of staff, alertness of staff to your arrival in store. Facial expressions and greeetings, ability to answer questions and over all helpfulness. Business owners and or managers may request the shopper ask or purchase a specific item and watch for check out procedures and specific scripts employess are to recite, and promotions offered.
In addition does the shopper feel welcomed in the store,quality of products purchased and overall feeling percieved while shopping.
Once the shop is finished the mystery shopper will return home and do any reports requested from the assignment which can include just a standard questionaire or specific things an owner or manager has requested such as employee names,date ,time amount of traffic coming through.Generally this is done as a narrative to give management a good idea of what a consumer experiences.
